First Initiative: Mother’s Day Search for Minnesota’s “MVP Mom”

ST.PAUL, Minn. (May 07, 2010) –  Kemps today announced an All-Star addition to its lineup, as the company finalized details of a three-year agreement with baseball star Joe Mauer and the woman responsible for raising the three-time American League Batting Champion, his mother, Teresa Mauer. 

“My family’s local roots are such an important part of my life and who I am,” said (Joe) Mauer. “I grew up with Kemps.  For as long as I can remember, my mom had Kemps milk and ice cream in the house.  The partnership with this strong local brand just makes sense, and we’re both looking forward to working with the folks at Kemps.”

“We have such strong ties to Minnesota,” said (Teresa) Mauer.  “And any parent can imagine how fortunate we feel that Joe made the decision to stay local.  We’ve always known Kemps to be a strong part of our local community.  When the kids were little, I was confident that having Kemps milk on the table was the right thing to do to help them grow up strong.  I’m excited to be able to work with Joe on this new partnership with Kemps.”

The partnership, which will start immediately, will include local television and print advertisements and various promotional programs.

Kemps Announces Search for Minnesota’s MVP Mom

In tandem with the announcement of the Mauer partnership and in celebration of Mother’s Day, Kemps today kicks off a search for Minnesota’s MVP Mom. The winning MVP Mom and her nominating child will meet Joe and Teresa during an upcoming commercial shoot on May 24. 

To enter, kids between the ages of six and 17 are encouraged to go to and submit an essay (150 words or less) on why their mom is their family’s MVP.  Entries will be accepted until May 18, with Kemps selecting a winner to visit the commercial taping with his/her mom on May 24. In addition to a lifetime memory of meeting the Mauers, the two will take home photographs with the Mauers and autographed merchandise.
